Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A)

Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil,  thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Listed below are some questions and answers about the process of Christian Initiation.

Who is R.C.I.A. for?

1. Those who have never been baptized

2. Those who have been baptized in another Christian tradition who are interested in becoming Catholic.

3. Those who were baptized Catholic, but are in need of the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation.
